Tovas Nayar

First Bond to the Jarl

Tovas was born in the rugged lands of the north, the product of selective breeding and rigid expectation—a northern bondmaid sculpted for beauty, obedience, and allure. Her golden blonde hair and amber eyes made her the prized acquisition of a wealthy collector who viewed her as both possession and display. In his estate, she learned the finer arts of entertainment but never the power of her own voice. Behind her practiced smiles brewed silent questions and a longing to become.

The illusion of safety was torn away when raiders fell upon the estate in fire and blood. What followed was a descent into the underworld of Gorean commerce. Tovas became a name on an inventory list, sold through bathhouses, brothels, and taverns. Yet, in the shadows, she endured. She learned to read the twitch of a man’s brow and find solace in fleeting connections, learning from those like Anya and Eirik that intellect and self-worth could be carried even through suffering.

Her journey changed forever when she was claimed as a stowaway by Orn Dragsson. Under his protection, she found belonging until the sea took him and his son. Seasons passed in mourning until Alaric Tungdur, a fabric merchant, claimed her chain by right of law. He renamed her Halla, and for a time, a lightning strike of fate changed everything: he removed her collar and made her his free companion.

In the village of Glodheimr, they built a life of trade and bore two children, Arimr and Ruby. But fire followed them; a volcanic eruption forced the family to flee to Teletus. Despite her freedom, the ache of the chain remained—a silent pull that surged to the surface one night in a crowded tavern. Before the eyes of the clan, her son Arimr face-stripped her and threw her to the feet of his father.

Halla was once more collared, finding peace in the return of the steel. But fate struck again when Alaric was found dead, his vision for the clan left in the dust of Sharkbait Cove. By right of lineage and law, she became the property of the new Clan Jarl, Björnar. Recognizing the strength beneath the service, the Jarl restored her birth name, Tovas, stripping away the ghost of Halla. Today, she continues to serve the Jarl and the clan as First Bond, the steel of her collar mirroring the unwavering resolve of the Tengdur legacy.
